Southeast Asia M&A is back on the rise. Deal value from Q1 2021 eclipsed the figure set in Q4 2020, marking four consecutive quarters of growth since the initial shock caused by the pandemic.
The region will look to continue its strong deal making momentum into H2 2021, with regional consolidations, large private equity war chests, SPACs and economic recovery being the key drivers for deal activity. Cross-border activity is also expected to rebound sharply as overseas investors seek to capitalise on the region’s vast economic potential.

Mallika Gadepalli is a seasoned strategy and people operations executive with over 20 years of work experience in consulting, technology and e-Commerce in Southeast Asia.
At PropertyGuru Group, Mallika is responsible for developing and executing the Group’s mid to long-term strategies to enable sustainable growth. Her focus areas include strategic planning, product prioritization, embedding strategic priorities and metrics across the organisation, and enabling growth through M&A and partnerships in line with the Group’s vision.
Previously she has worked at the Boston Consulting Group, Lazada (Alibaba) Group and Honeywell/ AlliedSignal. At BCG, she led consulting projects in market entry and digital transformation and later moved into internal operations as AP Head of Consulting HR, overseeing people strategy and operations, from recruiting to alumni management.
Mallika holds a Computer Engineering degree from NTU, an MA in Southeast Asian Studies from NUS and an MBA (with distinction) from INSEAD.
Sumit has more than 20 years of experience in providing M&A advisory services including acquisitions and divestments, capital advisory, strategic and financial advice and project management in multiple financial hubs across Europe and Asia including United Kingdom, Singapore, Indonesia and India. He has significant cross-border experience advising some of the leading MNCs, PEs and SMEs with principal experience on transactions within the Technology, Media, Consumer, Logistics and Financial Services verticals.

Tabongkod (Khun Thom) Peunchob is a Partner of Navis based in Thailand and an Investment Committee member. She focuses on investments in Thailand and Vietnam where she leads investment teams in making, monitoring and exiting investments, and sits on the boards and/or executive committees of several Navis portfolio companies.
Prior to Navis, Khun Thom was formerly from the Quant Group Company Limited Thailand, where she was a Director since 2008. She has advised Navis Capital in acquiring Golden Food Siam in Thailand and has assisted Navis to divest Dunkin’ Donuts and Au Bon Pain business in Thailand. Prior to that she was with CRP Jewelry Thailand as Assistant to Managing Director for 6 years.
